Effective April 1, 2007, the use of all tobacco products is prohibited within all buildings and on all properties owned by Rooks County Health Center and its subsidiaries and within all vehicles parked on these premises. This policy applies to all employees, patients, medical staff, students, contract personnel, volunteers, visitors and vendors.
All patient rooms at RCH will be smoke-free in order to provide a healthy environment. Patients are not permitted to leave the medical center to go smoke. Patients admitted as inpatients who use tobacco products will be assessed by their admitting physician and, if necessary, tobacco cessation counseling and a nicotine replacement protocol will be implemented for the time that the patient is hospitalized.
All patients upon registration will stipulate to the following via their signature on the general consent to treatment form: I understand that Rooks County Health Center is tobacco free. I cannot smoke or use tobacco of any kind in my room or anywhere in the hospital or its premises.
