RCH Receives A Deficiency-Free State & Federal License

Rooks County Health Center recently attained a deficiency-free state and federal license and certification survey from the Kansas Department of Health, the state regulatory body that oversees the safety and quality of health services provided to patients at the hospital. The survey is required for state licensing and Medicare/Medicaid certification.

This intensive survey process looks at the quality of care provided by the facility, the environment of the facility and patients’ rights. The surveyors, two RNs, observed all areas of the facility on all shifts during the nearly five-day unannounced survey.

“The surveyors observe every aspect of care. Regulators are diligent and will not overlook even the smallest infraction. Because it is so hard to achieve administrators tend to regard deficiency-free surveys as a special badge of honor,” states Julie Price, CEO of RCH.

According to Price, surveys are not announced in advance, “Once the surveyors arrive they carefully check out every aspect of the facility. They interview patients, professional staff and administrative staff and scrutinize every program detail. To come through the inspection process deficiency free speaks volumes about the commitment of Rooks County Health Center’s team. It’s a very thorough evaluation of the delivery of health care services.”

This evaluation also means every department of the hospital is included in the survey, which involves nutrition services, housekeeping, maintenance, linen services and other ancillary services like pharmacy, lab and medical imaging.

“Because this status is so difficult to achieve, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank our CEO, Julie Price, COO, Bill Stahl, the department leaders and our staff at Rooks County Health Center for their hard work and dedication to provide incredible health care services to this county," stated Jeff VanDyke, Chairman of RCH Board of Directors.

“The survey results are a sign that our hard work has paid off. It’s the reason we are here—to give extraordinary care to our patients and their families. But, we won’t stop now. There is always room for continuous improvement," said Stahl. “We are working towards moving to a new facility and this survey provides us with great incentive to move forward in the right direction.” To learn more about Rooks County Health Center or to inquire about employment opportunities, please contact Kathy Ramsay RN, Communication and Development Director, or visit www.rookscountyhealthcenter.com.
