A local physician, Dr. Lynn Fisher, is giving more than his medical knowledge to Rooks County. A benefit concert for Rooks County Health Center’s Era of Caring Capital Campaign will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 4 at the Nova Theatre in Stockton. Crossroads, a Christian singing group from Hays, Kan., will feature their Southern Gospel style.
“The role the rural family physician plays in health care is very important. Rural Kansas is a place where I can provide the full spectrum of family medicine and Rooks County Health Center is where that mission can be fulfilled. It is crucial that we work together to preserve it,” Dr. Fisher said. "I enjoy helping people in any way that I can.”
The members of Crossroads come from various religious backgrounds and share their love of music with many audiences in Kansas. In the past, Crossroads has headlined at the Barton County Fair and provided a fund raising concert for the Crossroads Pregnancy Center in Hays. They also sing at a variety of events such as weddings, funerals and churches across the area.
Dr. Fisher grew up in Ellis and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He has a clinic in Plainville with outreach clinics in Palco and Stockton. This is a free will donation concert and all proceeds will go towards equipment for the new hospital.
