At Rooks County Health Center you can expect to receive outstanding and compassionate care, close to home, plus so much more!  Did you know that Rooks County Health Center currently employs 112 people, of which 78 are full-time?  We want you to get to know the whole healthcare team by featuring one department each month.

This month we would like to introduce you to the Business Office.  Most patients and their families already know the friendly admission staff, but we’d like you to meet the other ladies who work behind the scene that help keep things running.

It is no secret that the business office at Rooks County Health Center is a very busy place.  Despite the cramped working area which creates warm temperatures, these ladies still manage to cheerfully admit patients, send out bills, verify charges, provide administrative support, manage the Main Street Terrace apartments, manage the accounts receivable and payable, and maintain the schedule for the transportation van and physical therapy department.  This group also answers any questions patients may have about their bill as well as offering financial assistance to those who qualify.

Because there is so much to do, most of the staff is cross-trained as this tight-knit group works very well together and fills in for each other as needed.  The staff rotates as needed to ensure coverage during their business hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday.  “We work in such a close environment that it precipitates us to become as close as family,” says Francie Benedick.

The business office is looking forward to becoming more advanced in the future with the addition of scanner technology and new software to help the flow of paperwork between departments.  In the meantime, they are excited and working on a smooth transition to the new hospital.
