Rooks County Health Center recently received two generous checks. Plainville’s Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce came together during the Paradise Creek Festival for the benefit of healthcare in Rooks County. These organizations raised a total of $1,103.85 for the RCH hospital building.
The Lions Club sponsored the Saturday morning pancake feed and the Chamber of Commerce had a free will donation barbeque with food provided by Midwest Community Bank on Saturday night. “These incredible organizations generously volunteered their time, talent and financial resources to the hospital. These gifts will have a positive impact on our fundraising efforts and we are grateful to the Lions Club and Chamber”, said Julie Price CEO of RCH.
“There are so many people to thank for helping at both of these functions. These individuals do not give their time for the recognition, they help because they care about their community and recognize the need to support local healthcare,” stated Kathy Ramsay, Communication and Development Director at RCH.
Service clubs are organizations that make a difference in people’s lives and give back to the communities they’re part of. In Plainville, it’s service clubs like the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce that help make life better in the community. These groups consist of men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes and service to others.
Lions Clubs are mainly recognized for their service to the blind and visually impaired. This service began when Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness" during the 1925 Lions Clubs International Convention. Recognizing the important role they play in their communities Lions Clubs also play a major role in helping programs within the community continue.
Plainville Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization operated by business leaders who care about the community and work to make it a better place for current and future businesses and residents.
