Rooks County Health Center Construction Update 2/21/07
The 10-day weather forecast looks promising for construction at the site of the new Rooks County Health Center. M & D Construction is moving their equipment back to the construction site and will continue work on the building pad. If all goes well and weather permits, the building pad should be complete in
1 1/2 to 2 weeks.
“The building is divided into three sections—Area A includes the medical clinic, administration offices, front lobby, chapel and physical and occupational therapy, Area B is the middle portion of the building where lab, radiology, surgery and cardiac rehabilitation will be, Area C contains the emergency room, nurses’ station, patient rooms, obstetrics, dietary, material management and the mechanical room—crews will use these sections when working on the next phase of the construction process,” explained Bill Stahl, Chief Operating Officer of RCHC.
After completing the building pad, the next step is to start work on the foundation and footings in Area A. This should begin the second week in March, with the foundation and footings in Areas B and C completed the last two weeks of March.
Underground plumbing and electrical work will follow construction of the foundation and footings with the pouring of the concrete slab tentatively scheduled to begin the first week of April and completed before May. Then, crews will erect the structural steel and those passing by the construction site will see the new hospital taking shape.
